Finally - a little about Africa

This shows our airplane at London Airport - we didn't get many pictures there. We were too tired. Then there is our first look at Capetown from the airplane.
There is a picture of our first look at the ocean with the other office couple and some Elders. It was a cold and rainy day.
The group photo is of Elder Ochanda, Elder and Sister Plehn-the other couple, Elder Macirori - in the front, Pres. and Sister Probst and us.

This is taken in front of the Mission Office the first day we came to work. What a great omen!!

We got past Christmas and are heading toward new years---looks like we'll make it! After the family party, we needed a few days rest!!

Here are some family pics we took this month when the kids all came for Grampa Smith's funeral. It was so wonderful to have them all here to be with us at that difficult time. We took advantage and took some family picures to remember the occasion. This first one is Gramma and Grampa with some of the grandkids who were at our house.

This is Katie's family - Cary, Katie and their two kids Trinety (7) and Trandon (9 mo).

Lisa didn't have her husband or any of her kids with her, but this is a great picture of her!

And here is Justin's family---Justin and Stephanie and their two kids, Ryan(2) and Bryson (7 mo).

This is Melanie and her husband, Jeremy. Their kids were too busy playing to stop for a picture!

This picture of Sarah and her boys was taken at a football game when they were playing---that explains the black mouthpiece Austin has in his mouth!! Her other son's name is Alex. Her husband, Brady and other son, Bridger were somewhere else on the sidelines at this moment.

Trip to California with Wendy and Lisa and families

Merry Christmas to all from the Herberts!
Here we are at Knotts Berry Farm where we ran into the Peanuts gang. (This is the only gang we saw in California.)

(Count this as our Christmas card, okay?)

Below are some more pics of us in California. Most of them were taken at Knotts Berry farm on our first day there. We lost interest in pictures after that!! This is when we first arrived. Steve and Sheldon were parking the car so we took that time to take pictures. This is one of the few pictures we got of Wendy!

Here is a photo op of the girls at a fountain near the entrance to Camp Snoopy! The weather that day was so fantastic!

This is Lisa's family with Snoopy! Of course, Hayes had to stay home and play basketball, so he isn't there. We surely missed him. But it was great to get this many all together for a family shot!

We really liked the log rides and river rafts- but not if we got too wet!! It wasn't warm enough to be walking around wet. The girls got soaked on one ride and some had to go change clothes in the car!

You can't tell how wet they are - except maybe their hair! Their clothes are very wet too!

Here are the girls taking off on the log ride - - - - happy landings!

It was always a long walk to get on the ride, but notice there weren't many people in line on this one. This is Grampa and Lisa's daughter, Hailey.

We had fun at the Bug's Life 3-D movie - here we are waiting to go in and sit down. This is Left to Right - Payton, Bailey (Wendy's daughters) then Hailey, Hannah, and Halle (the little one - these are Lisa's daughters).

Grampa seems a little bug-eyed himself.

Here we are waiting to ride a boat thru Storybook Land. We rode into a whale's mouth - which kind of upset Hailey at first. But we got out okay. Too bad I didn't get a picture of that!

Gramma and Halle rode the ferris wheel - it kinda took a long time to load, but we had lots of fun once it got going.

Two sisters goofing off at the restaurant---would you ever expect that from Lisa and Wendy's families? This is Hailey and Halle. Brings back memories of Lisa and Wendy at the dinner table---now those would be some great pictures to see.

Hannah didn't seem to be too interested in picking up cute boys, but she hit it off with this gorilla right away. He was at the Rain Forest Restaurant on the day we left for home.

Lisa and Hannah are a lot alike - we had so much fun with all of them. So sorry that Steve missed this picture!

Wendy is lost in thought - probably worrying about Chrstmas when she gets home--it was a shock to only have a week left to prepare!

I should've got some pics of the airport as we headed for home - we were too busy to think about pictures I guess. Next time I'll do better!

Herbert Happenings

Well, we finally got busy and started our blog. We are excited to share some of the pictures of our trip and some of the things that have happened this summer.

We are Vic and Dalene - parents of 9 and grandparents of 21 wonderful people. We are both retired(mostly just tired) and enjoy running around the country visiting our family and friends. Hope you enjoy some of our pictures and posts.
